Futbol, better than you think! (futbol=soccer)
So Im sitting here watching US soccer for the first time in a long while, in World Cup qualifying. Of course its halftime and the game is tied O-O. At least I'm finally getting my soccer fix, after Euro 2008. I cant get enough of it. I've only been a serious fan of soccer for the past five years or so, and now I'm completely addicted. If i wanna use one word to describe good soccer I use graceful. YEah I know its obviously is also a very physical sport at times, but the finesse side of soccer is what I love. Baseball, "American Football", basketball and hockey all emphasize skill and finesse less. Its more about brute strength and power in the states which I guess applies to a lot of American ideals. Plus all soccer players , or at least most....Ronaldo....., are world class athletes. You don't see any fat guys in soccer, to be blunt. I love watching the top players in world soccer. The Christiano Ronaldo's and Lionel Messi's with a ball at their feet are really artists, for lack of a better word. Soccer really is the "beautiful game". Yeah its a huge cliche now, but its undeniable. And yet for some reason American's find baseball more entertaining. baseball. baseball............z...z....z...z...oh sorry, fell asleep just thinking about baseball! My hatred of baseball is gonna have to be discussed in another post. All I can say is come on! America! Watch more soccer! At least one of your kids play freakin soccer! You know you like screaming at those soccer games parents!!!!! At least do so MLS will make more money and actually get some good players so us 15 American soccer fans can watch some decent soccer on a regular baseball.

Olympics
I know its a little late but i gotta mention the Olympics. Personally I love the Olympics. it gives me a break from the "professionals" in the major U.S. sports and all the associated stupidity. Its a true celebration of the athlete, which does sound lame, I know, but that's what it is. Olympic athletes are what I think of when I think of an athlete. Maybe because they're only in the limelight every Four years. In between Olympics nobody cares. Theres no time to really get tired of them or start to hate them, like you would with any American professional athlete. Another is that most Olympic events actually take specialized athletes. A regular person just cant go out and play a pick up game of parallel bars like you would a pickup basketball game. The athletic ability of Olympic athletes is awe inspiring. All i can think of is all the serious injuries i would sustain if I attempted gymnastics. Of course maybe it just seems that way. How much athleticism does it take to do 10m pellet gun shooting. At any rate Olympic athletes seem much more Athletic than U.S. team sport pros. I wonder if other American sports fans feel the same, I never really thought about it. I really don't know anyone who doesn't watch the Olympics. Whats compelling to everyone is the athletes. Some train their whole lives for one moment. And most never even win a medal. And if they do succeed in their Olympic dreams, what next? Whats goes through their heads?

OSU still chasing that championship
Yeah i know, we lost the last two BCS Championship games. Everybody hates on us because of it. Regardless we're back for another title run and back on the cover of SI. The team should be better this year, at least thats how it looks on paper. Chris Wells of course is just a beast. I look forward to him running all over Michigan again this year. Todd Boeckman is back, which is....nerve racking i guess. But that discomfort is eased by Terrele Pryor, who apparently is already the best quarterback in OSU history. Ok maybe the quarterback situation is an unknown, but with Beanie and Robiskie things should be better than last year. Then on defense you got Lauranitis who actually came back Thank God! Thats the real reason we're still in the hunt this year. Guys didn't leave(except Gholston, which isn't important..I hope) and actually stayed. Instead of watching another few years of decent teams, Osu has another team that looks real good, on paper anyway. That last two years the bucks obviously got dominated in the BCS Champ. They weren't even games really, It looked like OSU forgot how to play. I mean. if your a defensive back your supposed to actually keep the other teams receivers from catching the ball. You also have to tackle, that always helps. I just hope the team has learned from its mistakes. Of course Ive probably just jinxed the team talking like they'll automatically make the BCS championship. To me thats all that matters. Yeah Big Ten Championships are nice, so are big bowl game wins. Other than the Rose Bowl, a National Championship is all i care about as a fan and student of THE Ohio State University. We still got sweater vest Jim, so I'm still pumped for the upcoming season. O-H-I-O
