Olympics
I know its a little late but i gotta mention the Olympics. Personally I love the Olympics. it gives me a break from the "professionals" in the major U.S. sports and all the associated stupidity. Its a true celebration of the athlete, which does sound lame, I know, but that's what it is. Olympic athletes are what I think of when I think of an athlete. Maybe because they're only in the limelight every Four years. In between Olympics nobody cares. Theres no time to really get tired of them or start to hate them, like you would with any American professional athlete. Another is that most Olympic events actually take specialized athletes. A regular person just cant go out and play a pick up game of parallel bars like you would a pickup basketball game. The athletic ability of Olympic athletes is awe inspiring. All i can think of is all the serious injuries i would sustain if I attempted gymnastics. Of course maybe it just seems that way. How much athleticism does it take to do 10m pellet gun shooting. At any rate Olympic athletes seem much more Athletic than U.S. team sport pros. I wonder if other American sports fans feel the same, I never really thought about it. I really don't know anyone who doesn't watch the Olympics. Whats compelling to everyone is the athletes. Some train their whole lives for one moment. And most never even win a medal. And if they do succeed in their Olympic dreams, what next? Whats goes through their heads?
